Născut in America, stilul „Country and Western Music” s-a râspîndit și în Europa, unde o seamă de formații s-au afirmat practicînd cu succes acest gen de muzică, prin esență popular. Printre ele, un loc de frunte îl ocupă grupul olandez „The Tumblcwecds”, alcătuit în jurul celor trei,frați Masseurs — Tom, Berry și Ad — și al surorii lor Ine. O activitate intensă la Radioteleviziunea olandeză și la Televiziunea din R- F. Germania, precum și turnee în diferite țări (printre care și România, în 1972), î-a adus o meritată notorietate.
Animatorul și conducătorul grupului este Tom Masseurs, un muzi¬cian cu o calificare multilaterală, unul dintre puținii specialiști euro¬peni ai complexului instrument „pedal steelguitar” (specific muzicii nord-americane, cu o sonoritate amintind de aceea a chitarei hawaiene). Ine Masseurs, pe de altă parte, s-a confirmat ca una din cele mai interesante și mai atractive glasuri din muzica „Country”, dar totodată ca o interpretă capabilă să abordeze cele mai variate genuri și stiluri : piese viu mișcate („l Believe In Music”), cîntece străbătute de o mare intensitate a sentimentului („Bobby McGee”) sau compoziții pigmentate în stil „Western” („Reno”).
In fine, unul din punctele de atracție ale înregistrărilor grupului — realizate în Olanda pentru casa de discuri BASF din R. F. Ger¬mania — îl constituie sonoritatea specifică muzicii de1 „Country and Western”, acel „sound” caracteristic, care diferențiază muzica aceasta de alte genuri moderne.
Born in America, the „Country and Western Music” style has spread to Europe too, where a number of groups have successfully perfarmed this kind of music, essentiolly popular. Among them, a leading place îs occupied by the Dutch group „The Tumbleweeds”, founded around the three Masseurs brothers – Tom, Berry and Ad – and of their sister Ine. Their sustained activity atihe Dutch Radio and Television and at the Television in the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as their tours în various countries (among which România too, in 1972) brought them a well deserved fame.
The animator and ieader of the group îs Tom Masseurs, a multilateral musician, one of the few Euiopean specialist* of the complex instrument named „pedal steelguitar” (characteristic of the North American music, with a sonority reminding that of the Ha-wayan guițai; Ine Masseurs, on the other hand, has proved to be one of the most interesting and attractive voices in „Country” music, as well as a singer able to perform the most varied genres and styles : li/ely songs („l Believe In Muște”), songs permiated by intensive feelings („Bobby McGee”),/ or compositions in the „Wes¬tern” style („Reno”).
Fînglly, one of the points of attraction of the recordings made by thîs group – in Holland, for the BASF Recording Company of the Federal Republic of Germany — is the sonority specific of the „Country and”Western” music, that characteristic „sound”, which makes this kind of music differ from trie other modern genres
